
Preselect Eligibility Requirements
Preselect priority is available for up to six of ten slots in each concentration (ED-TEP or MNT). For eligibility, the following criteria must be met:
- Master's degree completed prior to DI start date
- DPD verification statement (or intent to complete prior to DI start date)
- One of the above must be from the University of Minnesota
Important to note:
- Applicants may choose only one concentration for which to apply.
- If applicant IS SELECTED for chosen concentration and accepts the position, the applicant has thus confirmed a commitment to this program and is removed from the computer match process per ACEND/D&D Digital standard policies.
- If applicant IS NOT SELECTED for chosen concentration, the applicant remains eligible to continue in the computer match process to apply to any desired program/concentration.

Preselect Application Instructions
In addition to the DICAS core application requirements, please provide the following items:
- Personal Statement - an engaging and concise statement sharing your interests, career goals, and demonstrated alignment with our program and practice area(s).
- In 1,200 words or less, tell us more about you by addressing the following in your statement:
- Why are you interested in the dietetics profession?
- What are your short- and long-term goals?
- What are your reasons for applying to our program and the ED-TEP/MNT concentration?
- What are your top strengths?
- What areas have you identified as needing improvement?
- What challenges do you anticipate encountering while in the U of M DI Program?
- Identify what makes you a top candidate for our program’s Medical Nutrition Therapy / Eating Disorders concentration.
- In 1,200 words or less, tell us more about you by addressing the following in your statement:
- Three references - our preference: two from your academic setting (i.e., faculty members or instructors) and one from a work or volunteer supervisor, preferably a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.
- However, if that combination is not feasible, use your best judgment to seek out references that can best highlight your demonstrated abilities and professional characteristics. Keep in mind, co-workers, fellow students, or family members are not appropriate to write professional letters of recommendation.
- Follow DICAS guidelines for e-submitting your completed application by 11:59 PM Central Standard Time (CST) on January 16, 2023.
- Pay the $50 (non-refundable) University of Minnesota DI application fee on or before January 16, 2023 via U of M DI Preselect Application Fee Payment Portal.
